HARDWOOD FLOORING FAQ's:

How should I clean my pre-finished wood floor?

Simply dust mop, sweep, or vacuum (vacuum should have rubber wheels so not to scratch the floor). You should never wet mop your wood flooring. Standing water on your wood floor can dull your finish, damage the wood, and cause discoloring. Cleaning kits are also available, which often come with a mop and an approved cleaner.

How can I prevent my wood flooring from scratching?

The two best ways to reduce or eliminate scratching is to put down a rug in a high-traffic area and dust, sweep or mop very regularly. This will ensure there is no debris collecting on the surface of the floor. Additionally, protect your floor by putting felt pads under any furniture in the room.

LAMINATE FLOORING FAQ's:

How do I clean my laminate flooring?

There are several simple ways to keep your laminate floor clean. Dust mop or vacuum with a soft brush or wood floor accessory.

A damp cloth or mop can also be used, but do not use excessive water. Dry the floor very thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth.

Do not use soap-based detergents, abrasive cleaners, or combined “clean and shine” products on your laminate floor.
Do not use steel wool or other scouring pads that may scratch laminate panels.
Do not wax or polish your laminate flooring.
Do not steam clean or use chemicals that may damage the laminate flooring surface.

For stubborn spots or stains on laminate flooring use acetone or nail polish remover on stubborn substances such as tar, asphalt, paint, or oil. Then wipe clean with a damp cloth.

What are laminate floors?

Laminate flooring is a composite of several materials bonded together under high pressure. It consists of a moisture resistant layer and is topped with a high resolution photographic image of wood flooring. Although laminate flooring looks like wood flooring, there is actually no solid wood used in its construction.

What are the advantages of laminate over wood flooring?

The cost of laminate flooring is typically considerably less than that of traditional hardwood flooring. Laminate is also easier to install. Additionally, laminate flooring is generally designed to be scratch and fade-resistant.
